The facility in Sri City marks the first electrical equipment manufacturing base of the company in southern India.
Panasonic Life Solutions India, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Panasonic Corporation, has announced the opening of its new manufacturing facility in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh.
The facility looks to strengthen the presence of the company in the southern region and develop market synergies by swiftly delivering material. The ‘highly automated’ unit is spread over 1,33,584 sq m and at present, covers a floor area of 37,025 sq m. This would mark the first electrical equipment manufacturing base of the company in southern India and seventh in India, followed by facilities in the northern and western regions.
A total investment of Rs 600 crore was planned to be made in two phases, and of these, the first phase of Rs 300 crore has been made. Panasonic has also said that the manufacturing facility would contribute to the goal of increasing capacity expansion in India and carbon neutrality by 2030. This facility is fully operational and will primarily focus on manufacturing Wiring Devices products covering Roma, Penta Modular, and Roma Urban. Additionally, the company intends to add other products from the Wiring Devices and include Switchgear, Wires, and Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) products over time. Currently, the production capacity in the first year is 80 million units, and it is expected to increase by 15% year by year as sales further expand.
