Sonos has introduced the second generation of its smallest portable speaker, the Sonos Roam 2 with several significant enhancements in design and functionality.

A key upgrade in the Roam 2 is the streamlined Bluetooth pairing process. Unlike the original model, which required initial setup on a home Wi-Fi network using the Sonos app, the Roam 2 allows direct Bluetooth pairing straight out of the box. This change enables users to start listening to their music immediately, eliminating additional steps. A new dedicated Bluetooth pairing button on the back of the speaker replaces the previous multi-functional power button, making the process more intuitive and user-friendly.

In terms of design, the Roam 2 retains its compact form factor but features aesthetic improvements. The Sonos Global Training team will be in Europe to deliver a series of professional training sessions designed specifically for audio and smart home installers. There will be four training sessions per day from January 30 to February 1. Each session lasts one hour and takes place in meeting room CC7.1B.

The training schedule includes an introduction for installers who are new to Sonos and a deep dive into Sonos home theatre solutions. There is also training on amp, port, and Sonos architectural speakers to ensure installers know every detail of how to design, install, and support the products. There will be specific Sonos installation training where account creation and transfer, detailed network and player configuration, and speaker tuning will be discussed as well as detailed talks on networking and configuration.

At ISE, Sonos will host a demo room experience with home cinema and multi-room audio configurations. Visitors can view and demo a Sonos 7.2.4 home cinema set-up, and learn more about the Works with Sonos program, which certifies products that integrate with the Sonos system. The latest update for the Smart Visu Server in version 1.2.1800 brings improvements and additions that increase performance and user-friendliness. Faster Commissioning

Numerous improvements have been implemented in SV-Control to make working with the JUNG Smart Visu Server more efficient. CEDIA announced the winners of the 2023 CEDIA Smart Home Awards EMEA on Friday 6^th October at The Brewery, London. Industry leaders, professionals, and enthusiasts gathered in their finest black-tie attire to celebrate excellence in smart home technology and integration.

Leading control and automation manufacturer, RTI, today announced a new driver for the RTI control platform that seamlessly integrates with Sonos sound systems. Verified by the Works with Sonos program, the new driver enables added control and automation of Sonos products within an RTI smart home or smart business system.

The new integration starts with an auto-generated page in the RTI remote, touch panel or mobile device for each Sonos player added to the system. Control options include:

• Simplified room grouping.
• Volume control of individual and grouped Sonos players.
• Full transport controls, including feedback metadata for cover art, artist/track/album details, and elapsed time.
• Ability to route an externally connected AV source from one player to any other player.
• Added home theater control with supported Sonos players including Night Sound and Speech Enhancement.

The new driver is available to authorized RTI dealers at the RTI driver store and directly within the RTI Integration Designer 11 control application programming software.
