Could you provide insights into Q Acoustics’ journey, highlighting the milestones achieved as it redefined various market segments, from affordable to high-end, and introduced innovations like the Q Active wireless audio system?

The ethos of Q Acoustics from the very beginning has been all about delivering fabulous acoustic performance for a fair price and is also available at various price points. I believe that we are out-performing with this objective given the vast number of awards Q Acoustics has received across the world since its launch in 2006. There are many highlights in our journey, but the launch of the Q5000 series in 2023 marked the completion of our passive speakers range from entry-level to high-end range. Plus the Product of the Year Award from What Hi-Fi in 2023 for the Q5040 is the “icing on the cake” cementing Q Acoustics’ position as one of the leading speaker brands in the world.  When developing speakers, we are always looking to innovate be it in the use of Gelcore, BMR drivers point-to-point bracing, isolation plates in the Concept Series and more recently the C3 Continuous Curved Cone™.  The development of Q Active follows this passion for innovation both in industrial design, the use of BMR drivers and the wireless technology to drive the Q Active audio system, which we believe is one of the most flexible, high-performing audio systems in the market with the added benefit that it has been designed for lifestyle living.

With your extensive industry experience, what potential opportunities do you envision for Q Acoustics in the Indian market?

While we’re witnessing a growing demand for our full range of passive speakers in India, Q Acoustic is currently focusing on two major areas: installation products and powered/streaming systems. Our new M40 Bluetooth micro tower exemplifies the latter, showcasing our dedication to innovation in this field.

While much attention rightly goes to our consumer-using Q Acoustic products, we also boast a robust range of installation products with wireless capabilities. This lineup will be further enriched with the launch of a unique wireless product in late summer. I’m excited to collaborate with MZ to further develop the installation product segment in the upcoming year.

The growth in the availability of music-on-demand services worldwide is shaping a new breed of music enthusiasts, prioritising convenience in their listening experience. India with its vast population and tech-savvy younger demographic, presents an immense market opportunity for audio brands.

In India, as in many parts of the world, the enjoyment of music holds significant importance in daily life. As we envision the next wave of products, it’s crucial to uphold Q Acoustics’ design ethos: delivering outstanding acoustic performance at an accessible price point while staying attuned to the evolving needs of diverse markets globally.

 How do you intend to utilize your partnership with MZ to introduce and establish Q Acoustics in India?

In any territory, having a seasoned partner is very important. With no office of our own in India, MZ serves as our vital link to the local market. They provide invaluable insights into consumer trends, guiding our brands and ensuring optimal market coverage. Collaborating closely with MZ, we tailor our marketing strategies to resonate with the core Indian customer base. Together, we aim to educate them about the diverse offerings of Q Acoustics, catering to both consumer and installation segments. As the importance of the install market grows, this partnership becomes increasingly crucial for all brands.

With a longstanding relationship spanning over 15 years, MZ is not just a trading partner but an integral part of our global business network, contributing significantly to our success worldwide.

Can you provide details on the range of audio products Q Acoustics intends to launch in India through its collaboration with MZ?

We have an exciting lineup of new introductions scheduled over the next few months, but at this stage, not all of the details are available to share so it will be a case of “watch this space” and look out for good news coming with a glimpse of what is coming on show at the High-End Show in Munich in May. We have just introduced the M40 which is our micro tower Bluetooth-powered system to go alongside our award-winning M20 unit. We have some exciting additions to our install range planned both with speakers and electronics, and we will be releasing more information on this as we head into summer. We also have some exciting news planned within our passive speaker range with more news to become available in the coming couple of months. Sorry I can’t be more specific, but we don’t want to ruin the surprise!

Could you elaborate on Q Acoustics’ line-up of wireless and powered speakers?

We launched the Q Active range back in 2020 and it was our first involvement with an active, streaming speaker and it was designed to be a completely networked-enabled home audio entertainment system. We followed this with the M20 which is an award-winning powered bookshelf model with Bluetooth connectivity that has achieved remarkable success since launch. We have recently launched the M20’s “big brother” the M40, in a micro tower format but with the notable inclusion of the C3 drivers that were introduced as part of our 5000 series range.  The market response and reviews for M40 have “blown us away” to the extent that we sold everything we had within days of the first products arriving in our warehouse.  88

According to industry experts, the powered speaker market is poised for significant growth shortly. As the younger generation transitions from `smartphones and headphones’ to more premium audio experiences, there’s a natural inclination towards consolidated systems offering convenience and sleek form factors.

For Q Acoustics, it’s crucial to offer solutions that are both user-friendly and cost-effective, ensuring a strong foothold in the market among future customers. In our ongoing discussions regarding future product development, considerable attention is given to providing comprehensive audio solutions that cater to all customer needs.

A key focus of our roadmap is the development of a powered wireless speaker solution, which aligns with the evolving preferences of consumers. Our next wireless product launch, slated for the last quarter of 2024, will be tailored specifically for the installation market, further solidifying our commitment to innovation and meeting the demands of our customers

In what ways does the 5000 series cater to apartments of various sizes and budget categories in the Indian market?

The 5000 series is our latest range and provides the bridge between our entry-level 3000i range and our premium Concept Series. The range offers 4 product finishes (Satin Black, Satin White, Santos Rosewood & Holme Oak) and 4 size options of product with 2 bookshelf and 2 floor standing models, with the award-winning Q5040 designed specifically for the smaller room/apartment with no compromise on acoustic performance.

Can you shed light on Q Acoustics’ offerings in Bookshelf and Floor-Standing speakers?

We have tried to curate our product portfolio so there is a relevant option for any customer looking for the best-performing speaker for their budget and home environment and I believe that the awards that we have received around the world would support that we have been successful at delivering an excellent choice bookshelf and floor standing options for our customers.  

For home theatre setups, what combinations and permutations do you recommend for Indian households using Q Acoustics’ products?

A very difficult question to answer in a short sentence. Sound is such a subjective thing so what works for one customer may not suit another and budget plays a big part in any purchasing decision. In each of our range offerings we have several home theatre bundles that will provide an initial 5.1 channel set up which can then be expanded on should the customer desire and we now have a solution from the entry-level budget at Q3000i to the high-end budget with Concept series.  For those not wanting a complete 5.1 system, our ranges can be implemented in 2.1 format and there is also M20 and M40, which can further be enhanced with a sub-woofer and offer an excellent alternative solution for those not wanting to invest in an AV receiver.  I believe Q Acoustics offers a solution for every budget and format to enhance a theatre/TV viewing experience.

Which receiver or amplifier pairs best with Q Acoustics loudspeakers?

Again, a very difficult question to answer as everyone’s tastes are different. We work a lot in combination with Cambridge Audio and will be using their electronics at the upcoming High End Show in Munich. Our products have a reputation for offering a “neutral’ listing experience, as there is no discernible effect in bass or treble from the speakers themselves, so that is something that needs bearing in mind when selecting an electronics partner. From a multichannel perspective, I spent many years working with Denon and Marantz so have a fondness for those products and believe that they pair well with Q Acoustics.

Which streaming protocols is Q Acoustics compatible with, and how does it enhance the user experience in Indian homes?

Q Acoustics is always evaluating the popular music streaming services and protocols that could be used with our products worldwide, to ensure a great user experience. The specific supported protocols and services will differ slightly from product to product, as they service different market sectors with varying customer expectations. We have products certified for Airplay 2, Google CAST, Bluetooth A2DP with AVRCP 1.5, Bluetooth aptX HD and Low Latency, Spotify Connect, Roon Ready and UPnP, and will be expanding this list of new products shortly. Popular music streaming services in India such as Spotify, Amazon Music and JioSaavn are all compatible with the supported protocols mentioned. Q Acoustics will always strive to support the best possible audio quality streaming to complement the award-winning products that we make, giving consumers in India peace of mind that they will be getting the very best out of our products. 

How does Q Acoustics ensure seamless connectivity and integration with India’s diverse smart home ecosystems?

 Q Acoustics has taken care to employ people with a wealth of experience in smart home and integrated systems automation spanning several decades. This in-house knowledge ensures that our current and future products can be engineered and supported to integrate with popular smart home products throughout the world. Part of the process is working closely with our international partners such as MZ to identify smart home products specific to a particular region, investigating how these can work with our products, and then working with the third-party manufacturer if required to prove the integration and publish a simple guide on how consumers or installation professionals can achieve the very best results.

Studio Johns is one of the most reputed companies in the industry. Can you take our readers through your journey so far…?

Studio Johns, is a technology, engineering and lighting design company. It is co-founded by Sachin Bhargava and Pooja Bhargava. Sachin Bhargava, an electrical Engineer is the technology and engineering mind, whereas Pooja is a creative soul. She is a NIFT- Delhi graduate and Master in Lighting Design (Architectural Lighting & design Management) from Wismar, Germany.

We started the company in 2002. One day world renowned architect Dr Anoop Baratria called us in his office in 2016 and asked us, if we would be interested in lighting the world’s first heritage walkway in Amritsar. We, immediately grabbed the opportunity and there was on looking back.

Today, we boast an experienced team to ensure good design, better installations and best results.

Can you mention some of the landmark projects you worked on, which have been a turning point in your career in terms of experimenting with new lighting techniques/designs or introducing innovative concepts?

In, 2016 we designed, supplied and commissioned the world’s longest heritage walkway- 1km heritage walk in Amritsar. It is from Town Hall to Jaliawalabagh to Darbar Sahab) Golden Temple. 

In 2022, we designed and completed India’s first outdoor museum on ‘Constitution of India’ in the beautiful Pink City- Jaipur. In 2023, Architectural lighting of 3KM of world’s longest heritage riverfront on either side of Chambal Riverfront.

Both the public places projects have been ahead in terms of lighting and have been carefully lit up without the use of flood, making each facade low voltage consumption, darkness friendly, well-planned, and better installed

What are your views on the importance of Lighting Design in a project?

Lighting Design is a subject poorly implemented in India as the awareness is still low within communities and stakeholders. With LED’s becoming cheaper and powerful, we must stop the misuse of selection/over selection while choosing LED fixtures. Let’s not look at wattage but lumens output from a fixture while selecting.

Secondly, public places should not be flooded/over lit up. We are losing the night view of skies from the city because of over lighting. Not everything needs to be switched ON every day and every night hour. Automation should be used to plan the timings of these facades. 

Thirdly, I feel there should be a guideline for lighting up the facades in the city. The facade belongs to the city. The city needs to have a theme ‘vision’. Lighting designer should align their designs to the theme/vision of the city.

Every government project should have a lighting designer on board before executing a project.

What is the biggest innovation in the lighting sector? How has it revolutionized the entire industry?

Well, innovation is a continuous process. We see the changes every month in LEDs, allowing the fixtures to be super small yet powerful. There is a lot of growth in linear fixtures as they are futuristic design. Controls have become wireless and the entire package of lighting and control have a lot to offer in terms of innovative design.

As a Lighting Designer, which lighting control brands do you prefer?   

So, for us each project and application have a futuristic, easy to use brand. For example, when we do-residences, we love to play with KNX using JUNG switches, wireless using CASAMBI. In case of large project installation like a public place we use Schneider/ABB for KNX, CASAMBI for wireless and MADRIX for DMX.

What are your views on the Smart lighting industry? According to you, in which sector (hospitality, commercial, residential), is traditional lighting getting rapidly replaced by smart lighting?

Smart lighting is the need of the hour. It finds usage in every sector, every application on every day basis. With power becoming expensive, sustainability becoming a challenge it is the need of the hour for government to act and Implement/mandate specifications for complete and holistic implementation of Smart Lighting Controls at least in public places in India.

If we have to live with “Ease of living” becoming a norm in India by 2047, there needs to be documents prepared, vision boards made by the government for SMART LIGHTNING.

For the second part of the question, larger spaces, bigger installations will always be more beneficial and viable financially if smart lighting is implemented.

Unfortunately, I don’t see much happening on the ground level as the tender are not prepared with guidelines in mind.

How do you foresee the Smart Lighting Industry 5 years down the line in India?

Five years down the line…

  • The ‘Make in India’ initiatives will be present. There will be at least +30 more companies into manufacturing.
  • Complete manufacturing, including diffusers and chips will start within the country.
  • Indian lighting standards, city vision documents/guidelines would be laid out.
  • BSR of government bodies will be more elaborate smart and sustainable in terms of specifications.
  • Every electrical circuit will have some sort of automation.
  • Applications will increase, light business will increase but quantitative installation per square feet will reduce and become meaningful.

Human Centric Lighting (HCL) is a futuristic trend in the lighting industry with health and mental wellness being the top benefits. What are your views on the same?  

All living things responded to light in a different way. Human Centric Light will find application in most of the environment spaces working in 24 hours of day. I feel, it will enhance productivity and have better mental and health impact on living things.

However, controls, AI and overall space and location will also play an equal and dynamic role while designing futures spaces.

As the smart lighting market is fragmented into various segments – such as type, applications, end-users, and distribution channel, how does Studio Johns provide the best lighting solutions that suit consumer needs?

Unlike a lot of others, we are a team of engineers, First and designer Second. So, to say that our stress on controls, drawings, implementation, commissioning is far more time-consuming because of a vast experience in controls, education in lighting design and a complete team to ensure end-to-end feel that our designs have far more impact than those who only design.

Our designs always have comprehensive technical parameters to match heritage, modern/ facade goals.  Our team is well-trained with manufacturer’s design, files and renders.

I began with saying we are technology, engineering and lighting company. We are in continuous hunt and in huger to adopt technologies, use AI, Controls Media as to opt for designs out of the box to create, showcase mesmerising experiences. 

So, we are leading and growing every year. We want to be recognised for meaningful designs.

We love to add emotions and culture into installations. We want to design to have foot prints in every state of India and beyond.

Finally, we want to make an impact and contribution in the making of “Developed Bharat” ensuring and preserving our culture & heritage in the coming years.

The idea of showcasing, IOT and AI at the booth was to make people experience the power and usage of AI and understand futuristic concept. AI is a game changer and opens a pandora box to unlimited application and usage.

Future belongs to control and engineering, lighting will only be a product to be consumed in these applications. The mind-blowing application we display with immersiveness and instructiveness were a true delight to the user. And this is just, beginning…

As I said earlier lighting and controls go hand-in-hand. It’s like a marriage, good design smart system will only work if both lights and controls are smart and understand each other.

Although, I see a lot of crossing in this domain, these days, where light suppliers are also in control integration. So, both roles are equally important and are depending on each other.

Light + Building 2024 illuminated Frankfurt am Main with a grand showcase of cutting-edge advancements in smart home automation, sustainable building technologies and lighting. The recently concluded event had industry leaders, innovators, and enthusiasts converged to explore the latest trends, innovations, and solutions driving the future of the built environment. 

Light + Building 2024 attracted a staggering 151,000 visitors from 146 countries, underscoring its global significance as the premier platform for showcasing advancements in building technology and lighting design. Industry luminaries, including Christian Kruppa, Global Product Manager at ABB Electrification Smart Buildings, and Wolfgang Marzin, President and CEO of Messe Frankfurt, shared their perspectives on the pivotal role of innovation in driving sustainable building practices and enhancing the user experience in smart homes.

KNX Showcased Sustainable Solutions and KNX IoT Solutions.

KNX showcased sustainable solutions for Smart Homes and Buildings. They showcased the latest developments in KNX IoT products and solutions. The KNX booth featured 25 KNX members showcasing their innovations alongside more than 140 KNX Members with individual booths, emphasizing the versatility and effectiveness of KNX on a global scale. Under the theme of IoT, Energy Management & Security, KNX unveiled a range of working KNX IoT devices at its main booth. These devices embody the latest technological advancements, focusing on human-centric lighting, digital twin modeling, and indoor air quality improvement. Additionally, new energy management applications were highlighted, promoting sustainable energy practices within smart buildings.

The event served as a beacon for lighting enthusiasts and design aficionados, offering insights into the latest trends in lighting design for 2024/25. Designer Annetta Palmisano from the bora.herke. Palmisano Style Agency presented captivating trends, while the Design Plaza showcased an array of high-quality lighting solutions designed to elevate indoor and outdoor spaces with sustainability and efficiency in mind.

The Designplus Awards by Light + Building

Eleven winners were honored with the prestigious Designplus Award. An independent jury consisting of industry experts Amandus Samsøe Sattler (ensømble studio architektur, President DGNB e.V.), Annika Egloff-Schoenen (Managing Director, Fachverlag Dr. H. Arnold GmbH), Katja Winkelmann (owner of Licht 01, Lighting Design), Ulrike Brandi (Managing Director Ulrike Brandi Licht), and Stylepark (magazine & platform for architecture and design) carefully evaluated the submissions in a two-stage selection process. Applicants had the opportunity to submit their innovative solutions in four categories: Light + Creation PLUS, Sustainability + Efficiency PLUS, Smart + Connectivity PLUS, and the newly introduced Sustainable Exhibition Stand category. Five winners were selected in this category, demonstrating outstanding achievements in the field of sustainable stand design.

The Design Plaza and Special Events

The Design Plaza was dedicated to lighting topics when the Lighting Association of the German Electro and Digital Industry Association (ZVEI) took the stage. This brought together lighting experts for roundtable discussions on the topics of sustainability, efficiency, and digitalization. For the first time, the IALD – International Association of Lighting Designers – was also present, providing high-quality content. Additionally, on International Women’s Day, the ‘Women in Lighting’ project celebrated its 5th Anniversary at Light + Building.

BMWK Areas with Newcomers and Special Exhibits

Entrepreneurial newcomers to the industry had a special place at Light + Building Autumn Edition. The Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK) organized a joint stand in Hall 9.0 in the Electrical Engineering product area and in Hall 4.1 in the Technical Lighting product area. At the E-House of the electrical trades the focus was on the topics of ‘energy efficiency’, ‘sustainable energy supply’, and ‘smart health’, showcasing innovative integrated energy management systems.

Exhibitor Stage and Special Presentations

For the first time, there was a stage for specialist lectures and presentations by exhibitors and experts who took turns imparting know-how on selected topics from the built world. Additionally, the ‘BIM Cave’ allowed visitors to experience BIM live and discover the benefits of this digital planning method.

Conferences and Forums

The 12th International Conference on Improving Energy Efficiency in Commercial Buildings and Smart Communities (IEECB&SC’24) and the European ESCO Conference brought together all the key players in the field of commercial buildings and neighborhood planning.  

The ZVEI Technology Forum focused on the electrification and digitalization of the building sector, with experts exploring innovative solutions and changes to standards.

Light + Building 2024 was a remarkable event that showcased the latest innovations and advancements in smart and sustainable building technologies, lighting design, and industry trends. With prestigious awards, engaging discussions, and specialized exhibits, the event underscored its pivotal role in driving positive change and fostering collaboration within the built environment sector. Upon stepping into the foyer, guests are greeted by an aura of elegance and grandeur. The interiors boast a harmonious fusion of contemporary design elements with classic accents, creating a timeless appeal. The design team worked with System Integrator Harsh Shah from Beyond Alliance. Harsh Shah has worked towards providing user-friendly solutions tailored to the specific needs of clients. Adding his insight Murtaza Lilamwala says, “There are three non-negotiables for any tech design that we plan: (1) It has to work. (2) It must be easy to use yet fulfill all needs and (3) It has to be value for money.”

The home has automated lights, fans, curtains, AV, HVAC, and Integrated security solutions in this house. The Crestron lighting design and control are executed to perfection, with natural light in the space creatively manipulated to harmonize with artificial light. Motorized shades and drapes play a crucial role in achieving this seamless integration. 

The attention to detail is evident in every aspect, with keypads meticulously selected from around the world. Each button is laser engraved, ensuring user-friendliness for individuals of all ages and tech-savvy levels. This house boasts a living room equipped with a motorised ultrashort throw projector with an optical dNp screen and an immersive in-ceiling audio Dolby Atmos surround sound system.

Speaking about the security systems Murtaza Lilamwala says, “We have also used an integrated security solution, where a facial ID and biometric reader is waiting to unlock the space at the speed and efficiency at which our iPhone unlocks itself. As a visitor notifies you with the same gadget a display phone in the kitchen or next to their bed helps them to FaceTime the visitor before they let them in. The same display can stream music in the room and control the colour temperature and intensity of every light to set the right vibe for that time of the day.” 

The user experience is further enhanced through tailored Apps catering to individual needs, allowing customization at the user level with controls on their phones, tablets, watches and voice commands.

Balanced Ventilation with Energy Recovery

Modern apartments are designed air tight for comfort and avoiding noise and air pollution. This results in lack of adequate cross-ventilation to the occupants in the house. We rely on air conditioning systems to achieve comfort however fresh air ventilation is sacrificed as a result.

“To solve this problem, we have opted for Blutherm, introducing the concept of Balanced Ventilation with energy recovery to cater to the above scenario of ventilation in modern houses. Balanced Ventilation with Energy recovery involves a machine that supplies measured filtered fresh air in the living spaces like bedrooms, study rooms, and living rooms in the house, and extracts stale air from bathrooms, kitchens, and utility rooms at the same time. During this process both streams of air pass through a heat exchange module in the machine, that transfers the temperature of the air by up to 90% without mixing the air, thereby pre-cooling the outside fresh air passively before it enters the house, resulting in a reduced load on the air conditioning systems.” Explains MURTAZA LILAMWALA.

The Benefits and Functionality:

The benefits of implementing Blutherm system are multifaceted, addressing crucial aspects of indoor air quality and comfort. Firstly, it ensures a constant supply of fresh, filtered air, promoting a healthier living environment and enhancing overall hygiene by reducing the presence of airborne contaminants. In addition to its health benefits, the system offers significant energy-saving advantages. Through passive cooling, it alleviates the strain on traditional air conditioning units, resulting in reduced energy consumption and lower utility costs. Furthermore, by facilitating a quieter and pollution-free indoor environment, it enables occupants to enjoy a peaceful and tranquil living space without the disturbances of outdoor noise and air pollution.

How do you plan to leverage your partnership with MZ to launch and establish Artsound’s presence in India?

We believe that the strong presence and experience of MZ in India, together with the extensive product range of Artsound will offer a multitude of solutions for Indian consumers and businesses. MZ has a proven track record, and holds tone of the DNA pillars of ArtSound: `listen before you talk’. Base your activities on what a consumer need. Be it in a home setting, offering attractive multiroom/multizone solutions, or in a business offering a relaxed atmosphere to both employees and customers. We are very happy with the partnership and 27 years of experience in India that MZ brings to the table. 

Can you elaborate on the range of audio products that Artsound intends to introduce in India through the partnership with MZ?

Artsound is committed to introducing products tailored to meet the demands of the Indian market. Currently, our focus lies on traditional installation solutions, particularly consumer home products such as our popular Happi 525 in-ceiling speaker. Additionally, we plan to unveil outdoor speakers suitable for both consumer and professional markets, catering to establishments like restaurants and sports clubs. Our 100V line of audio products holds significance for commercial installations, including hotels, shopping spaces, and restaurants. Artsound also provides mixing amplifiers and zone players to complement these solutions. Collaboratively, MZ and Artsound will meticulously assess the market to determine the best-suited products for India, potentially expanding our current offerings accordingly.

What are the unique selling points (USPs) of Artsound’s audio solutions, and how do you plan to differentiate them in the Indian market?

When designing products, Artsound always considers its intrinsic values. The product must deliver excellent value for money, be easy to install and use, and exceed the customers’ expectations, in whatever situation the product is used. We will not launch the most exclusive product in the world, but we will offer the best possible solution. The music needs to be enjoyed, wherever you are. Next to that we also support MZ with our 25 year history, we will train and support our distributors so they can do the same with their customers.  We will make sure the end customer receives the best option available to them at a reasonable price.  

Could you provide insights into Artsound’s multiroom Solutions and how they cater to apartments of various sizes and budget categories in the Indian context? 

Artsound offers various solutions for both residential and commercial. One of our most popular products is the Smart Hyde/Smart Stream. A small footprint amp that has a linkplay module built in and additional connectivity features. This will allow an installer or even an end consumer to easily create a music zone in the apartment. Depending on the network structures available in the structure, this can be expanded to more than enough zones for 99% of the jobs. Artsound also has a 4-zone amplifier and streamer that can be expanded and built into a rackmount. 

In March Artsound will also introduce the Smart Evo and Smart Single. Both are based on the same platform, the versatile Evo can be placed with a TV as it has HDMI ARC built in, so directly becomes a go-to product for any room with a TV that requires a small form factor product. From a living room to a board room. The single is an active in-ceiling speaker that has multiroom functionality built into it. Just connect it to power, if needed expand it with a second speaker, and you have your zone. 

How does Artsound ensure scalability and customization options for multiroom setups to meet diverse consumer needs?

ArtSound is built by passionate people. Which includes a personal follow-up, very fast reactivity, and absolute flexibility.  Flexibility is in our DNA. We are a great little small team that works together with our customers in providing solutions. You can start with one and don’t require a central hub. You can expand that to the number you need. Either, by multiple at the time, or in singles. The only limit is the quality of your network. 

I understand that Smart EVO, Smart In Set, Smart Zone, 4 AMP, and Smart Hyde are some of your popular product ranges. Could you elaborate on each of these and their USP? 

ArtSound is a family, and so is the Smart range. It means, everything connects with every device, whatever the architecture is. And they remain an open window on all the streaming devices of this world. Everywhere, anytime. They all work with a streaming solution that is available to a multitude of bigger and smaller manufacturers. This means the consumer has the flexibility to choose different products that can work together. It also means that with a larger installed base, you will have the advantage of faster and better updates. The products are also easy to install and reasonably priced compared to others in the industry. Also, control is easily done. Either via the app or via KNX systems if the total system is more complicated. 

Which streaming protocols are Artsound’s Audio Systems compatible with, and how will it enhance the user experience in Indian homes?

Artsound’s streaming protocols are Spotify Connect, AirPlay 1 or 2, Tidal Connect, DLNA, UPnP, Qplay, Internet Radio, Qobuz, Napster, Amazon Music, iHeart Radio, vTuner, SoundMachine, RadioParadise, Calm Radio, QQ music, and QQ Fm. Either via Wi-Fi or a wired network. You can also use a Bluetooth connection. These can be controlled via apps on Android or iOS.    

How does Artsound ensure seamless connectivity and integration with various smart home ecosystems prevalent in India?

So currently our products support the Linkplay platform, as do many other manufacturers. We also support the KNX ecosystem. We will work together with our partners to expand the number of ecosystems that we will support, and course closely monitor the developments of new platforms like Matter. 

Does Artsound accommodate customization orders from clients in India, and if so, how do you manage such requests while maintaining efficiency?

Artsound has very good ties with the supply chain and can cater to that. If there is a client-specific requirement that can be fulfilled by adapting our current offering then we can do that if it makes sense to all the partners involved in the supply chain. Artsound can develop and produce smaller production runs. As we have done for a hospital in Belgium. 

In your opinion, how will advancements in IoT, AI, and cloud computing impact the evolution of consumer audio technologies in the Indian market, and how is Artsound preparing to stay ahead of these trends?

We will need to manage all these new technologies and keep a close look at these developments. But we will do it in a ‘safe mode’. What I mean is that the second mouse eats the cheese. Not the first one. With early adapters, you can create some press audience, but with a reliable, well-thought-out and tested approach, you create loyal clients. It is certain that connected products, that we also supply, will be parts of a bigger scheme and could be addressed. So. AI will help in the design of new products and consumer preferences, as long as it adds value to our customers we will follow these trends closely. 

Could you share Artsound’s long-term vision and objectives for its presence in the Indian market, including any milestones or targets set for the coming years?

India holds significant importance as a market for us, driven not only by macroeconomic factors but also by the demands of its young population. As this demographic enjoys increasing spending power, there is a growing need for solutions that cater to their needs and preferences. By offering products across various price brackets, we aim to ensure accessibility and cater to a wider consumer base. We firmly believe that MZ is the ideal partner to help us expand our presence in India, spanning both consumer and commercial segments. Could you provide a comprehensive overview of the digital locks and digital safes offered by Quba across various customer segments?

If we broadly divide the customer segments in three parts based on their spending capacity as Economy, Mid and Premium then, Quba preciously has the products to cater every category. May it be Safes or Digital Lock, Quba doesn’t compromise on quality, technology or aesthetics of the products even if it’s for Economy Segment.

The newly launched Qraft – 5-way access digital lock and Magnus – Safe series are examples of the same.

What are the standout features that differentiate Quba’s Digital Locks in terms of security and convenience for users?

As the Qraft’s tagline goes `Security has never been so stylish’, Quba literally live up to that. We provide wide range of technology features in all of our digital products such as Hijack Alarm which has ability to send SOS signal through lock, without touching your phone, then we have Passageway Function which basically disables locking mechanism of the door which saves the trouble of unlocking the door every time in case of some occasion or party and security feature like OTP generation, where temporary password can be created for your guest or maid. Over and above all this, we have our own mobile application which help you monitor all the locks from anywhere in the world.

How does Quba proactively address potential vulnerabilities within the digital lock and safe technology, such as addressing concerns related to hacking or electronic malfunctions?

Quba Digital products go through three step QC with surprise inspections of manufacturing sites by independent inspection agencies. Every wireless communication between device and mobile is encrypted and inserted user data is stored on secured cloud of Application Platform.

As we said earlier, Quba doesn’t compromise on quality, technology or aesthetics of the products. 

In the context of the ever-evolving smart home landscape, how does Quba’s digital lock and safe technology seamlessly integrate with other smart home systems and devices? Specifically, can you touch upon features like biometric access, keyless entry, and remote control?

In all the fingerprint-based locks, Quba provides 360 degrees fingerprint sensor which saves the pattern of the fingerprint and not the photos; but now, Quba is not only confined to the Main door Lock or Safe, as we have launched Qsense which is a furniture lock product series & has similar features like main door lock that makes even furniture lock equally secure and safe. Quba’s Upcoming Digital lock like “Quest” will be having VDP (Video Door Phone) integration capabilities. Even upcoming Premium Safes will be Mobile App Compatible. That not only provides the convenience of keyless entry/opening but also peace of 24/7 monitoring using the mobile app.

Could you elucidate the various connectivity options accessible with Quba’s digital locks and safes, encompassing aspects like mobile apps, remote access, and compatibility with the Internet of Things (IoT)?

Like most of the Digital locks, we provide Fingerprint, password, RFID & Mechnical key option but key point is, even in our economy series main door locks, we provide inbuilt Wifi connectivity and not a Bluetooth using which we can unlock the Wifi Digital lock from anywhere using Quba Smart App.  That make our Quba Smart App a one stop solution for all the devices connected to network. As we mentioned earlier, upcoming Quba Lock will be compatible with VDP & allied products like Qeye a Wifi Video Door Bell & Qbot a Wifi 3MP home PTZ camera are part of Quba Family which can be accessed on same Quba Platform.

One of Quba’s renowned product lines, QUANTRA, has been honored with the prestigious RedDot Design Award. Could you share the unique selling points (USP) of this range?

Design and Elegance are at the core of the Quba products which we bundle up with user convenience and technology. Quantra is the product of all these things craft together. The uniqueness of the product is the Push-Pull Design of Quantra which is very unique & adds into it utility. Apart from all these, Quantra is wifi inbuilt lock with electronic lock body and comes with wide range of mobile app & security features. 

Let’s delve into the digital safe offerings provided by Quba. What options do you offer, and could you provide insights into the application areas where these safes find relevance?

Quba’s Digital Safe provides impeccable security merged with aesthetic design and has to offer something for every market segment. Our Astrix-001 & Astrix-002 are premium Wi-Fi safes that are mainly would be used for high-security requirement areas such as Gold/Diamond factories or High-profile personal cabins. Astrix-002 being fire resistant, adds to the security.

Our Magnus-003 to Magnus-006 are Laser cut dual access mode safes that are most suitable for the mid-market customer segment, who is looking out for security with style. Having Fingerprint, password, and mechanical keys as three opening options, provides triple peace of mind. These Smart Switches are mated to the Havells Signia platform and offer a full suite of features ranging from switching, dimming, curtain control, Fan/AC, smart bell and scene controls.

Another recent launch is the new Monoblock solution I Sense, this is a very cost-efficient solution that offers premium looks with all automation features. This solution offers all automation features and is based on the ZigBee platform to offer superior connectivity and is well-suited for large apartments and villas. Both these solutions are highly adaptable and scalable and can be used both in new constructions and retrofit jobs.

 Your product line spans Switches, Automation, and Video Door Phones. Have there been recent technological advancements integrated into these categories, and if so, could you provide details on these innovations?

Technology improvement in smart products and solutions is an ongoing process and is constantly changing. Some of the recent advancements have been the integration of Wi Fi features in our video door phones, these features enable a user to be able to remotely communicate with visitors at their home. The homeowner can remotely monitor the outside area of his home and also give remote access (if integrated with an electric lock). Our Wi-Fi video door phone is fully integrated with our I sense automation solution.

The Signia Smart Bell push is another new upgrade that converts a normal doorbell into a smart doorbell by offering features such as Bell ringing notifications and DND, the unique 4 Scene controller in the Signia Smart range is a multi-use product that offers easy scene control features, features such as All On /Off & Two way switching.

Smart Home Technology is perceived as complex by users. How does Crabtree prioritize user-friendliness in product design, and are there specific features aimed at enhancing ease of use across your product line?

Our wireless automation solutions are designed to offer a DIY-level simplicity, these solutions offer multiple ways of controls that suit the needs of every generation of family as the solutions can be controlled via touch like a simple switch, via mobile app, via voice assistants and also via Remote controls (available in some solutions)

∙        Havells Crabtree Signia Smart Solutions – Based on the extensive Signia modular architecture these are modular switches that offer full features of automation, multiple ways of controls and a range of premium faceplates

∙        Havells Crabtree I Sense: This is a uniblock wall panel solution with preset configurations, this is based on the Mesh technology to offer latency-free operations across larger areas.

∙        Enviro Series – This is a 4.3 Screen with multiple page options and controls for multiple air condtioners with one screen. These panels are available in both white and black colours.

∙        Granite Series – This is available in both US & UK form factors & is equipped with a high-resolution AMOLED screen offering superior clarity. This too offers multi-page operations with built-in thermostat for AC controls

∙        Tile Series – Tile is a modular solution that offers various configurations from 1 to 4 gangs. Using the Tile display different combinations with push button / USB can be created. This range is available in White / Champagne Gold & Charcoal Grey colours
