Savant has expanded its line of Inception motorized window shades, designed by J Geiger. Available exclusively from Savant, Inception shades feature the architectural design benefits of a custom-built, exposed roller-shade with hassle-free installation.

Unlike most motorized shading solutions that require a facia or custom-built valance, shades designed by J Geiger feature a minimalist profile. More than a decade ago, J Geiger introduced its R-Series custom-built line that integrated into a home’s décor. Today, Inception shades expand upon that vision, allowing for a minimalist profile even when the location of related wiring is imprecise.

Savant’s Inception and R-Series shade line-ups include aluminum hardware finished in silver, black, and now white, with 600-plus fabric options to choose from available in translucent, sheer, or blackout. Homeowners can select wired or wireless motorization as well as a fully manual option.

Savant also has launched a new platform that enables dealers to design and quote lighting control and shades simultaneously within the same project, complete with installation documentation. Using step-by-step prompts, dealers can name each room, input the shade measurements, and access Savant’s fabric library, ensuring that the proper parts are included with each order. They also can “add-to-cart” in total or by installation phase, making it easy to use the project summary as both a quoting and ordering tool.  

Inception and R-Series shades drive options include wired motors, wired RF motors, rechargeable RF motors, and manual shades.

Wired motors are wired for power and control, offering abundant smart home integration options including voice-controlled hubs and home automation ecosystems. Savant Inception and R-Series shades are compatible with all major control systems, and custom installers can apply to become an authorized dealer of Savant’s shading solutions.

Wired RF motors are wired for power and controlled wirelessly via RF (radio frequency signal). They can be fully integrated or simply linked to a stand-alone keypad, remote, or voice-controlled hub.

Wire-free battery-powered rechargeable RF motors are long-lasting (up to a year) and easy to charge. The motor and shade remain intact while charging, and the cord connects in a snap thanks to a convenient magnetic port. Wire-free motors can be fully integrated or simply linked to a stand-alone keypad, remote, or voice-controlled hub.

Airzone is a leader in intelligent HVAC control for mini-split, multi-split Inverter/VRF, and ductless units. Far beyond simply telling the HVAC unit when to turn on and off, Airzone leverages an exclusive library of manufacturer protocols to minutely control fan speed and refrigerant flow. Airzone control products can reduce HVAC energy consumption by up to 60 percent, while simultaneously maintaining more consistent temperature set points in occupied spaces.

The Savant driver works with both the Airzone Aidoo Pro for single-unit systems, and the Webserver Hub for zoned systems. Milind Bargal Interior Designers have designed a home with a unified control system by partnering with Eagle Techsec and Communications India Pvt. Ltd., which has resulted in a home characterised by reliability, flexibility, and comfort. 

Renowned Architect and Interior Designer, Milind Bargal has designed an opulent residence for the Kakwani family that is a blend of sumptuous design with cutting-edge technology. This home is located in Vijay Nagar in Indore and is spread over an area of 16,000 sq ft.  The client’s brief to the Milind Bargal Interior Designers was to have a unified control system for the entire home, ensuring ease of operation without complexity. Milind Bargal Interior Designers collaborated with Eagle Techsec and Communications India Pvt. Ltd. to successfully integrate lighting, shades, audio-visual equipment, security surveillance, and HVAC under a single, easily accessible platform. The design prioritized minimalistic and user-friendly lighting and shade keypads, particularly for the client’s parents. Reliability was a key factor in system selection.

Integration of Smart Home Technologies

The designer opted for a wired system for lighting and AV controls, keeping in mind the reliability size of the home. Lutron handled lighting and shades, SAVANT integrated audio-visual controls and security features, while Coolmaster managed HVAC. A dedicated smart device application provided centralised control, complemented by Lutron keypads strategically placed for effortless operation.

“Understanding the importance of simplicity, the lighting and shades’ keypads were customized to the client’s preferences, and engraved by Lutron for easy identification. SAVANT application UI was tailored uniquely for each family member, ensuring a personalised and user-friendly experience.” explains Milind Bargal.

Not compromising on the security aspect, the interior design team opted for Honeywell surveillance cameras that cover the entire property, incorporating varifocal cameras for optimal visibility at the main gate. EEKEY access controls managed servant entries with customizable schedules. Intrusion alarms by AJAX and Texecom fortified vulnerable entry points, integrated with lighting controls for enhanced security. Lutron’s vacation mode provided an added layer of safety, simulating occupancy during the client’s absence. The integration of a firewall into the house networking system ensured the constant safety of data and privacy, even from potential interference by household staff.

Entertainment Space 

The entertainment area has been equipped with the client’s desire for an immersive entertainment experience. Configured as a 5.1.2 surround sound system with ATMOS, it has Martin Logan speakers, an Epson projector, and an Onkyo audio-video receiver. The emphasis on easy operation extended to a user-friendly lighting and shades keypad in each area, along with a personalized SAVANT UI for managing other services.

One of the most important aspects of this project is the lighting. The designer opted for Lutron, an industry-leading brand known for its reliability and flexibility was chosen for lighting and shade controls throughout the house. The decision was rooted in the brand’s reputation for inventing dimming and controls.

Keeping the scope of future expansion, Eagle Techsec and Communications ensured the system’s scalability by implementing an IP platform. This choice allows for the seamless integration of future technologies and accommodates evolving homeowner needs without the constraints of an analog system.

Overall, Milind Bargal Interior Designers has transcended conventional luxury with this smart home project, seamlessly weaving together aesthetics and technology.

CEDIA announced the winners of the 2023 CEDIA Smart Home Awards EMEA on Friday 6^th October at The Brewery, London. Industry leaders, professionals, and enthusiasts gathered in their finest black-tie attire to celebrate excellence in smart home technology and integration.

Savant has unveiled an extended lineup of power products, introducing a new category comprising Smart Power Distribution Units (PDUs) and Smart Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS). These innovative Smart PDUs not only empower integrators to control connected devices, monitor device health, and perform remote reboots as needed but also provide real-time and historical energy consumption insights.

Savant’s Smart PDUs seamlessly blend smart home and intelligent power capabilities, launching with two initial models: the Savant Power Box 8 and Savant Power Box 3. The Savant Power Box 8 is designed for rack installation and boasts four individually addressable outlets, along with two addressable pairs of outlets, all in a compact 1U form factor. Meanwhile, the Savant Power Box 3, with its low profile, can be discreetly installed behind displays and features three outlets that are individually controlled and monitored. Both models offer built-in surge and over-voltage protection, along with tools for dealer monitoring and homeowner insights. The product lineup is set to expand further with additional Smart PDUs.

Each Smart PDU comes equipped with a display screen that provides crucial real-time feedback, serving as a valuable tool for integrators when working onsite. Configuring these Smart PDUs is user-friendly, thanks to the intuitive Savant Power & Light app.

Savant’s Smart-UPS solutions include a rack-mounted 3U UPS capable of powering two fully loaded Savant Power Box 8 units for up to 30 minutes. This UPS offers built-in protection and conditioning, employing pure sine wave technology. Additionally, a single-appliance UPS is part of the product offering.

Savant has introduced the Savant Home Manager, a more intuitive smart home management tool created specifically for homeowners. Savant Home Manager is included as part of the company’s smart home subscription model and is designed to expand Savant’s user experience beyond traditional mobile apps, in-wall devices, and remote controls.

Savant Home Manager enables new Savant system owners to learn more about basic system features, and the power user to dig deeply into system statistics, and upgrade possibilities.

Camera Recordings: The Camera Recordings view allows homeowners to easily access and organize camera recordings with sort features by camera, date/time, and even specific event types.

Connected Apps: Homeowners can view and manage connected third-party Apps that have access to their Savant home, including voice, security, and more.

User Management: The User Management view allows a system administrator to manage dealer system access permissions as well as add, delete, and edit user permissions.
